January 4 – The CareerSource Internship Program was launched. The program is a ten-week paid work experience for dislocated workers to help them transition back into the workforce.
January 21 – CareerSource Polk hosted the 2016 State of the Workforce Summit with an opening session of a sexual harassment mock trial presented by Ogletree Deakins. The keynote speaker was J. Lenora Bresler, a nationally-known speaker, author, trainer, and coach with specialties in leadership, employee motivation, visioning, diversity, and conflict resolution.
March 17 – The 2016 Spring Job Fair was hosted at Highland Park Church with over 60 employers.
March 22- CareerSource Polk’s Youth Services Division held a Youth Expo that assisted all youth between the ages of 16 to 24 to figure out “What’s next in my life and/or career?” Various employers, postsecondary educational institutes, military branches, and career training providers handed out information about their programs as well as recruited the youth. CareerSource Polk had a booth that assisted the youth with resume development and mock interviews.
