Let CareerSource Polk help with your job search. Job seekers can take advantage of the following programs and services available for no cost at the centers in Lakeland and Winter Haven.

At CareerSource Polk, our goal is to ensure that we prepare you for employment while maintaining a professional environment at the career centers for all customers. When visiting our career centers, please remember:

  • Children are not permitted
  • Appropriate dress is required of all job seekers
  • All CareerSource Polk campuses are tobacco free

Search for Jobs on Employ Florida Marketplace | By registering with Employ Florida and posting your resume, you will be able to access a full range of features and services to assist in your career search. That includes learning what jobs you are qualified for, how much those jobs pay, and other issues of interest. You will be able to save personal information, settings, and preferences which eliminates the need to conduct repeated searches for the same information, saving you time and effort.

Career Development | You may qualify for one-on-one career counseling after attending our “Work First” training program (WIOA).

Career Resource Room | If you do not have access to a computer, the CareerSource Polk Research Room is your office for career search. Available on a first-come basis as time permits.

Identify Your Skills | We provide a variety of career assessment tools to help you identify what types of jobs you would like and determine which jobs best suit your personality and training. Find out how you can improve your computer skills and earn the Florida Ready to Work Credential.

Specialized Services

Welfare Transition Program | The Welfare Transition Program provides emphasis on work, self-sufficiency, and personal responsibility; as well as opportunities for welfare recipients to move from welfare to work. The support structure includes programs and services such as employment programs, job training, child care and transportation assistance; diversion programs to reduce domestic violence and child abuse; diversions to prevent families from going on welfare and relocation assistance. Ticket to Work | The Ticket to Work program is a program under the Social Security Administration for people who receive Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) benefits and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits because of disability or blindness. The program offers you choices in getting the services you need to go to work, or to earn more money. The goal of the program is to help you gain self-sufficiency.

Professional Services | Professional employment services are provided to job seekers that have training and education beyond high school. These job seekers usually hold degrees, certifications or licensures recognized in a particular industry, with a work history demonstrating that the individual has held positions requiring minimal supervision that involve independent discretion and judgment.

SNAP E & T | Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education and Training is a program through the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) to help low-income households to buy nutritious food. CareerSource Polk assists eligible Food Stamp customers in employment and training and community service opportunities.

Veteran Services | Helping veterans to find employment through job referral services, job development, job training and career management is one of the many things we do at CareerSource Polk, but we do it with pride.

Youth Services | The CareerSource Polk Young Leaders Program connects youth ages 16 to 24 with employment & career development opportunities.

Migrant and Seasonal Farm-Worker Program | Seasonal farmworkers and dependents can obtain career guidance, testing, job development, training, and job referrals.
