The CareerSource Polk Young Leaders program offers Polk County young adults between the ages of 16 and 24 the opportunity to participate in training that allows youth to explore career options and gain hands-on experience. Participating youth are placed in a variety of positions with local businesses throughout Polk County for a maximum of 30 hours per week.
Local businesses from the private, nonprofit, and public sectors have committed to hosting youth in their place of business, introducing them to real-world experiences and skills to enhance their knowledge of the position and company offerings. Through CareerSource Polk’s leadership training program, businesses can play an active role in shaping the future workforce, all at no cost.
In-School Youth
- Ages 16-21
- High school and college students
- up to 10 weeks
- Train 30 hours per week
- Various Polk County worksites
Participants will gain exposure to multiple career options through on-hands experience in a position of interest during the summer only.
Out-of-School Youth (Year-Round)
- Ages 16-24
- Young adults not enrolled in school or young adults enrolled in adult school
- Up to 20 weeks
- Train 30 hours per week
- Various Polk County worksites
Participants will gain team-building experience, financial literacy training, career readiness training all while receiving hands-on experience in a position of interest.
