The CareerSource Polk Young Leaders program offers Polk County youth between the ages of 16 and 24 the opportunity to participate in a paid work experience to explore career options and gain on-hands experience. Participating youth are placed in a variety of positions with local businesses throughout Polk County, earning $15 per hour for a maximum of 30 hours per week.
Local businesses from the private, nonprofit, and public sectors have committed to hosting youth in their place of business, introducing them to real-world experiences and skills to enhance their knowledge of the position and company offerings. Through CareerSource Polk’s work experience program, businesses can gain temporary workers while shaping the future workforce, all at no cost.
High School Youth (Summer Only)
- Ages 16-19
- 9 weeks
- Earn $15/hr
- Work 30 hours per week
- Various Polk County worksites
Participants will gain exposure to multiple career options through on-hands experience in a position of interest during the summer only.
Out-of-School Youth (Year-Round)
- Ages 18-24
- Up to 20 weeks
- Earn $15/hr
- Work 30 hours per week
- Various Polk County worksites
Participants will gain team-building experience, financial literacy training, work readiness training all while receiving on-hands experience in a position of interest.
