2018 Gentleman’s Institute Sponsorship

logonewCareerSource Polk, George Jenkins High School Boys Basketball Program, and several other community organizations, will host the sixth annual Gentleman’s Institute in June 2018. The Gentleman’s Institute is a week-long program designed to address the basic necessities that every young man should practice. The program will run from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day and will teach young men about respect, integrity, manners, work ethics, and more. The curriculum is based on the book 50 Things Every Young Gentleman Should Know by John Bridges.

Some of the critical lessons that will be covered at this year’s Gentleman’s Institute:

  • How to tie a tie and how to iron
  • Shaking hands and proper eye contact
  • How to accept/reject a gift
  • Proper dining etiquette (including proper table conversation)
  • Proper grooming and hygiene
  • Telephone etiquette
  • How to properly write a thank-you note
  • And much more…

The Gentleman’s Institute Faculty consists of prominent businessmen including the CEOs, vice presidents, attorneys, and executive chefs. Each day is filled with information that will arm our youth with effective tools for success. The grand finale is a graduation and fine dining experience where the young men demonstrated proper dining etiquette while also imparting some of the knowledge that they acquired onto their parents.
